Important Information

All passengers must be aware of the following:

The safety of the passengers, crew and vessel is paramount. Life jackets will be supplied and are to be worn, by all, at all times when on board the boat.

Any person, judged by the crew, to be compromising that safety will not be allowed on board or, if already on board will be put ashore at the nearest safe haven. In such a case the cost of returning will be the responsibility of that person and the fare will be payable in full with no refund for any part of the journey not undertaken, on the boat, by that person.

Smoking is not permitted on the boat.

Passengers must provide their own weather proof clothing, if they feel this is necessary.

The boat is fully insured but this does not cover passenger's personal items. This is an open boat and you can get splashed and items can be dropped over the side. Therefore any items such as cameras, mobile phones, binoculars etc, are carried entirely at your own risk. We can accept no responsibility, whatsoever, for the loss of damage to any personal items, however caused, while aboard, or as a consequence of being aboard, this vessel.

Some of our destinations are extremely tide dependant. We will depart precisely at the agreed time. Any person arriving late for departure will be left behind to make their own way home, at their own cost. This can be extremely difficult especially for destinations such as Lundy Island or Lynmouth. If this ever occurs, (and it hasn't yet) no refund will be allowed for the uncompleted part of the journey.

If any booking is cancelled less than 14 days before the date of the trip a refund will be made only if that booking is re-sold by Coastal Rib Tours, in time for that trip.

If a trip is cancelled by Coastal Rib Tours, for whatever reason, a full refund or a re-scheduled trip will be offered. Such a cancellation could be due to weather, mechanical reasons, commitment to existing contracts etc. In any event, Coastal Rib Tour's liability will be limited to the return of the cost of the fare for the cancelled excursion.

Sea sickness.

I have spoken to several R.I.B. operators about this and all have agreed with me that it is very rare for anyone to become sea sick on a R.I.B. tour. One operator likened it to some people's tendency to get car sick but you never hear of anyone getting motion sickness on a motorbike!

We have now carried many hundreds of passengers, a substantial number of them are frequent travellers with us, and we have not had a single case of mal de mer.

In addition, though it is always possible to get caught out, we do not go to sea when existing or forecasted conditions indicate that adverse weather conditions are likely to be encountered.

However, if you wish to take medication, many preparatory remedies are available from pharmacists and should be taken according to the instructions, prior to boarding the vessel. If in doubt try a short trip without medication and you will reassure yourself that no precautions will be required.
